What can you buy with an Anthem OTC card? ›

What Does The OTC Benefit Cover? Your OTC benefit can be used to shop for both brand-name and generic health and wellness products like vitamins, pain relievers, cold medicine, first aid supplies, and more. For more information on what specific items are available to you, log in to your NationsBenefits account.

Important Information. Please note that retailer websites like Walmart.com are not available for your online orders. However, using your Benefits Prepaid Card in person at Walmart or other approved retail stores is accepted.

You can also order by phone at 1-866-819-2516 (TTY: 711) or online at https://www.cvs.com/otchs/wellcare. You order from a list of approved OTC items, and OTC Health Solutions will mail them directly to your home address.

You can also get everyday items like laundry detergent, soap and toothbrushes.

What does the OTC card not cover? A Medicare plan with an OTC allowance typically does not cover prescription medications, alcohol, tobacco products, cosmetics or items for general household use. Additionally, it usually cannot be used to purchase gift cards or pay for services such as doctor visits and lab tests.

Approved items include fruits & vegetables, meats, dairy & more.

Items that do not qualify include non-food and pet items, alcohol, baby formula, candy, chips, coffee shop items, desserts, fresh baked goods, soda, and tobacco. To check if an item is approved, members can download the Healthy Benefits Plus app, scan the product and it will advise if item is allowable.

You can use your card to buy things like: Food and fresh groceries, like meat, vegetables, and canned goods. Everyday items, like toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant and shaving cream. Household goods, like laundry detergent, paper towels and tissues.

Over-the-counter (OTC) benefits help cover the cost of eligible OTC health and wellness products. This benefit is included in most Medicare Advantage plans, but not all. And different plans may have different OTC benefits.
