How did you first get into the industry?

I've always had a passion for art and storytelling since I was a child. I pursued formal education in illustration and concept art, which eventually led me to internships and freelance opportunities. My first big break came when I landed a project with a small indie Author for Book cover, and from there, I built up my portfolio and reputation within the industry.

I'm currently based in Switzerland, Zürich, and I work as a freelance illustrator and concept artist. I have the privilege of collaborating with various Publishers, game developers, and publishers on a range of projects, from video / board games and advertising.

What is your personal background and what role did it play in your career?

Coming from a multicultural background, aslo working as an IT Engineer . I've been exposed to diverse influences and perspectives, which greatly enriched my creative vision. Additionally, growing up immersed in different cultures instilled in me a deep appreciation for storytelling and visual narratives, which became central to my work as an illustrator and concept artist.

If you weren’t in your current industry, what would you be doing?

Working as an IT Engineer.

Can you explain your creative process? What makes it unique?

My creative process typically starts with extensive research and brainstorming to understand the project's requirements and theme thoroughly. I then move on to sketching and refining ideas until I achieve a solid concept. What sets my process apart is my emphasis on storytelling and character development, ensuring that every illustration or concept carries a narrative essence that resonates with the audience.

How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as dynamic and immersive, with a strong emphasis on mood and atmosphere. Whether it's vibrant and whimsical or dark and brooding, my illustrations often evoke a sense of wonder and intrigue, drawing viewers into the world I've created.

Which individuals do you gain inspiration from? Do you have any heroes in the industry?

I draw inspiration from a diverse range of artists and storytellers, including legends like John Howe and Alan Lee, known for Tolkiens World to illustrate Lord of the Rings whose visionary work continues to influence generations of creatives. Additionally, I find inspiration in the works of contemporary artists pushing the boundaries of visual storytelling in various mediums.

Stay passionate and persistent in pursuing your craft, and don't be afraid to take on challenges or step out of your comfort zone. Building a strong portfolio that showcases your unique voice and skills is essential, as is networking and establishing connections within the industry.

What tips would you give to other professionals to get more clients?

Consistently deliver high-quality work and maintain professionalism in all your interactions. Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues through effective communication and reliability can lead to repeat business and referrals.

What kind of tools/kit/software could you not do without?

As an illustrator and concept artist, my essential tools include a reliable drawing tablet, digital painting software like Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, Lightroom and a library of references and inspiration sources. These tools allow me to bring my ideas to life with precision and efficiency. Of course i could do without in traditional way but it would take me much longer.

What’s your secret to staying inspired and motivated?

I find inspiration in everyday experiences, whether it's observing nature, exploring new cultures, or immersing myself in art and literature. Setting achievable goals and constantly challenging myself to grow as an artist also keeps me motivated and excited about my work.
